The Atlanta Bicycle Campaign's Confident City Cycling courses give cyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail.

The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques and includes a student manual.

Learning will take place in both the classroom and on bicycles, so students should bring a bike and a helmet to the class.  The class includes a practice ride so students can put their new skills to work, with frequent stops for instructor feedback.

Courses are taught by instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists.

Recommended for adults and children above age fourteen, this fast-paced course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling.

Contact the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign, (404) 881-1112, for more information and to register. Contact Commuter Club at (770) 859-2331 for eligibility for the discounted rate.

Visit the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign for a schedule of upcoming courses. Important notes:

  • Cumberland Galleria area participants can enroll in these courses for only $10.
  • Pre-registration is required.
  • Registration deadline is two weeks prior to course start date.

Bicycle commuting is a great way to squeeze regular exercise into a hectic schedule. If you choose an easy pace, you’ll find cycling no more strenuous than walking. Because most cyclists don’t sweat at this pace, showers aren’t necessary. However, some companies and many nearby health clubs offer shower facilities.

Some things to remember for bicycle commuting:

  • obey all traffic laws
  • ride visibly and predictably
  • always wear a bike helmet when you ride
